AVCAL releases FY2009 PE and VC Activity Figures

The AVCAL 2009 Yearbook, produced in partnership with Ernst & Young, provides an overview of the PE and VC fundraising, investment and divestment activity in FY2009.

Despite the global financial crisis, the Australian private equity (PE) industry has proven remarkably resilient, as the latest statistics from the AVCAL show.

The 2009 AVCAL Yearbook reveals that while overall fundraising activity has slowed significantly, investments have remained steady relative to FY2008 levels. This has largely been due to PE and VC fund managers intensifying focus on recapitalising and strengthening their existing portfolios to deal with the challenges brought on by volatile economic conditions.

However, the prospects for PE and VC diverge markedly when viewed in terms of future capacity to invest. Read the Executive Summary here and the full Yearbook here.
