Castle Harlan, Inc. is a leading New York based private-equity firm, investing primarily in controlling interests in the buyout and development of middle-market companies in North America and Europe.  Castle Harlan's senior team has completed about 50 acquisitions in the Castle Harlan funds (excluding add-ons and CHAMP Private Equity deals) with a total value in excess of $9 billion.  Founded in 1987, the firm traces its roots to the start of the institutionalized private-equity business in the late 1960s.  Castle Harlan has a total staff of about 50.  In 2010, Castle Harlan completed raising its fifth fund, Castle Harlan Partners V, L.P., with approximately $900 million in committed capital.  Castle Harlan seeks companies with leading, defensible market positions, proprietary products or services, low risk of obsolescence that are not dependent on fashion or current trends, high profit margins and skilled management teams.  Examples of Castle Harlan’s portfolio companies include: Pretium Packaging – a leading regional-US manufacturer of short run PET and HDPE plastic packaging primarily for food and  personal care products; and Baker & Taylor - the world leading distributor of books and DVD’s, specializing in libraries and schools; For more information see www.castleharlan.com.

In 2000, Castle Harlan, Inc. co-founded Sydney based Castle Harlan Australian Mezzanine Partners (“CHAMP Private Equity”), the successor to one of Australia's oldest and largest private-equity investment firms dating back to 1987.  Castle Harlan is a major shareholder in CHAMP Private Equity, which currently manages or advises over A$2.5 billion in funds for private-equity investment in the Australasian region, focused principally on middle-market buyouts.  CHAMP Private Equity has approximately 25 professionals and a total staff of about 40 in Sydney and Singapore.  Examples of CHAMP Private Equity's portfolio companies include:  Study Group International - a global leader in education and training, with offices in Australasia, Europe, and the Americas; and International Energy Services - Australia's largest fuel logistics business and manufacturer of fuel transport vehicles and equipment.  For more information see www.champequity.com.au.
